The shy Elling and his good-natured buddy Kai-Ove are finally supposed to learn how to stand on their own feet. Therefore, after their discharge from a clinic, they are assigned a shared apartment. But is "real life" really a good exchange for Elling's blooming imagination? And how are you supposed to cope with the pitfalls of everyday life when you're battling a whole mountain of neuroses? Fortunately, there is Frank, a social worker, who supports the two with advice and action. And quite unexpectedly, Kai-Ove also falls into the big love – quite literally.
A warm-hearted comedy and a story as funny as it is touching about friendship, courage, and taking the leap into life.
