Description

The legendary career of Eleonora Duse seems to be coming to an end, but in the turbulent times between the First World War and the rise of fascism, the "Divina" feels a call stronger than any resignation, returning to where her life began: the stage. It is not only the call of the theater that drives her, but a deep urgency: the need to assert herself in a world that is changing relentlessly and threatens to take everything from her, including the independence she fought for throughout her life. Unexpected financial setbacks force her to make a decision, and so Eleonora again chooses the theater as the only place of truth and resistance. With her art as her only weapon, she defies time and disillusionment, transforming every word and gesture into a revolutionary act. But the price of beauty in the face of the brutality of power and history is high: her loved ones seem to distance themselves from her, and her health deteriorates. Nevertheless, Eleonora faces her final journey and proves that one can give up life itself, but never one's own essence. Film in Italian with French subtitles.
