Pink Floyd – Giants of Progressive and Art Rock, architects of powerful magical sound buildings with unique musical aesthetics, masters of ceremonies of bombastic live shows - a monolith in the stream of rock history, shaping generations of musicians and bands. Pink Floyd are one of the greatest bands of all time and have long secured their place in the rock pantheon.
The story of the originals, however, was concluded with the last album "The Endless River" in 2014. It was a fitting conclusion to a gigantic musical total work that represents a legacy for generations.
The Pink Floyd tribute band echoes continues this legendary legacy. From 2024, also in a new, fresh lineup - the fourth since the band was founded in 1993. The two band founders, Paul Ahrens and Steffen Maier, continue to guarantee constancy and the highest level, successfully steering the Pink Floyd tribute flagship echoes for over three decades (!) and more than 500 concerts in twelve countries. Unique across Europe.
Especially exciting: For the guitar part of David Gilmour, they managed to win none other than the exceptional German guitarist Dennis Hormes. Fans of echoes have already experienced samples of his fantastic skills in recent years when he was a guest musician with echoes. It is absolutely fascinating how he adopts David Gilmour's work in a new and highly virtuosic way - now not as a guest, but as a new central figure in the Floydian sound worlds of echoes. Dennis Hormes brings skills with him that originally distinguished Pink Floyd and perhaps have been somewhat lost or overlooked at the end: an open mind, creativity, and improvisational joy - without neglecting the complexity, grandeur, and spirit of Pink Floyd.
echoes take their audience on a highly emotional journey to the dark side of the moon, from "Ummagumma" through "Meddle", "Dark Side of the Moon", "Wish You Were Here", "Animals" and "The Wall", up to the post-Waters era. In addition to a comprehensive "Best of Pink Floyd," some almost forgotten works are also brought back to life.
And yet, an echoes concert is not a nostalgia trip. Rather, the band demonstrates with immense joy of playing, attention to detail, powerful sound, and great respect for the original that the complex Pink Floyd epics are just as fascinating and relevant today as they were at the time of their creation - timeless indeed.
echoes presents a specially designed, nearly three-hour spectacle that also does justice to the audiovisual aspect of Pink Floyd's gigantic concerts. Perfect, powerful, and transparent live sound, an elaborate light show with numerous intelligent spotlights, computer-controlled video projections, and many other elements of Pink Floyd's original shows support the epic music and guarantee an absolutely extraordinary and unique live experience.
The press echoes in recent years have been accordingly: "It is a spectacle," writes Süddeutsche Zeitung. A "monumental concert" certifies Hanauer Anzeiger, "Simply beautiful" finds WAZ, and even "Almost uncanny" the Allgäuer Zeitung. "Echoes proved that they are chosen," summarizes GNZ, the Main Echo celebrates "The copy as a total work of art." And the conclusion of Rheinpfalz is almost euphoric: "You can hardly do better. Echoes fulfilled all expectations and paid tribute to their heroes in a way that could not have been more varied, daring, and perfect."
