Echoes of a Future Choreographies by Jiří Pokorný and Ella Rothschild The future is, in many ways, a great unknown. Will there be peace? Will our nature recover? Where and how will our society develop? In the two-part dance evening at the Vidmar halls, the two choreographers Jiří Pokorný and Ella Rothschild explore this theme and let two echoes dance about a future in their new creations. Echoes manifest in the body as traces of movement, repetitions, distortions, slowdowns. The body becomes a sensor for what is to come, a seismograph of a future announced in gesture, breath, and rhythm. Each choreographer gives this echo their own resonance. Thus, the stage becomes a place where tomorrow already resonates in the now and what is to come hints at itself in many voices—quietly, physically, inevitably. After the outstanding success of Carmen, Jiří Pokorný returns to Bern Ballett and works with our dancers on a new piece. For the first time at Bern Ballett, choreographer Ella Rothschild is a guest.
