In partnership with ADN Danse – Neuchâtel, in this solo performance, Neuchâtel dancer and choreographer Maxime Jeannerat explores a series of 'states of the body'. Exploring the idea of bodily transformation through effort and time, he creates an instinctive choreography, in which his body becomes both the actor and the subject of the performance. Through moments of life that the dancer traverses, images that inhabit him, and characters he embodies, his body sheds its old self and invites us to dialogue with our own bodies, tensions, and collective and personal memories. DROPS explores notions of effort and pleasure, somatic memory, and the search for bodily limits. Using a physical vocabulary inspired notably by contemporary dance techniques and Hip Hop dance, an intimate and unique choreographic language unfolds, transforming this body on stage through the states it passes through. Founded in Neuchâtel by Adamantia Papakyriaki and Maxime Jeannerat, La Méthode company explores the unconscious mechanisms of the human mind by merging contemporary dance, foundations of Hip Hop dance, and physical theater. Placing research at the heart of its approach to create its choreographic language, the company bases its work on the idea that moving bodies participate in materializing individual behaviors and social phenomena.
