Aschenbrödel takes her fate into her own hands, fights for great happiness, and even shows the prince at their very first encounter in the forest where to go. Stubborn and with her heart in the right place – that's what makes the film special to this day. Since its first broadcast in 1973, this light-hearted fairy tale with its snow scenery and wintry-romantic atmosphere has been an integral part of the Christmas program. Once again, the beautiful Aschenbrödel and her prince can look forward to a very special stage: for several years now, "Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel" has regularly sold out concert halls in the German-speaking area during Christmas time, transforming their stages into the setting of the enchanting love story. While the fairy tale film runs on a large screen, the film soundtrack by Karel Svoboda is played live by a large orchestra, scene by scene, synchronized with the romantic-witty adventures. Shortly after the soundtrack's release, Svoboda received his first commissions from the West, and his theme melodies for animated films like "Die Biene Maja," "Wickie," or "Nils Holgersson" were created. But only that enchanting melody, to which the princess chases through the snow on her horse, can evoke such blissful happiness in the audience.
