DOX

Description

Oli Kuster and Dee Byrne venture into unknown territory with their duo project DOX, blending jazz with modular electronics to create rugged ambient landscapes, free improvisation, and glitchy beats. Currently, Swiss drummer Xavier Kaeser is a special guest. With the album «Drowned Circuits» (Efpi Records, November 2025), the three began their musical exploration of the tension fields between groove, texture, and abstraction. Now, their latest work «Wayfinding» is available. Each track on the album reflects their approach to improvisational group work in the moment and moves between intense jazz phrasing and unpredictable rhythms. The trio combines electric piano, modular synthesizers, saxophone, and acoustic drums into a distinctive sound language between composition, improvisation, and electronic sound research. Oli Kuster's multi-layered keyboard and synthesizer landscapes create shimmering sound spaces and fragile rhythmic structures, in which Dee Byrne's expressive saxophone and Xavier Kaeser's dynamic drumming can move freely, challenge, and reshape. This results in a dynamic interplay of electronic detail work and collective improvisation – music with a lot of beat that feels both physical and atmospheric. Source: BeJazz License: CC BY-SA 4.0
