Imagine: you regain your senses right in the duty-free shop of a Parisian airport. No memory, no certainty, except that you are a young woman and you have lost your memory... This is the ordeal that Rkvaa is going through, forced to transform one fine morning into an investigator of her own existence. Fantasizing herself as a spy, fearing she is a prostitute, she will ultimately discover other talents, torn between France where she lives and a small Eastern European country her parents fled during the Soviet era. In the face of rising nationalism, how to define oneself, how to make the impossible choice between two cultures, two lands? "Double Nationalité" is the theatrical adaptation signed by Joël Maillard of the eponymous novel by Nina Yargekov. On stage, four actresses embody the multiple facets of a kaleidoscopic personality to question the notion of belonging in a polarized world. Born in 1978, Joël Maillard is a writer, actor, and director. Graduated from the drama section of the Lausanne Conservatory in 2004, he promotes accessible art that questions both notions of identity and our modern societies. In 2012, he founded the Cie SNAUT and collaborates with artists sharing an interest in the strange and absurd. In 2020, he was awarded a cultural grant from the Leenaards Foundation. In 2021, he received one of the Swiss Performing Arts Prizes. His creations include "Résilience mon cul" (2022), an introspective stand-up, and "Nos Adieux (remake)" (2023). Born in France in 1980 to Hungarian parents, Nina Yargekov holds a doctorate in legal sociology, teaches at the university, and is also a simultaneous interpreter for the judicial administration. She published her first novel in 2009, "Tuer Catherine," followed by "Vous serez mes témoins" (2011) and "Double nationalité" (2016), awarded the Flore Prize. "Budapest" is her latest work.
