Description

Asked about his beginnings, DJ Krush once said that he started as a hip-hop DJ and has always remained a hip-hop DJ. The Tokyo-born DJ superstar, whose real name is Hideaki Ishii, was ignited when he saw the film "Wild Style" in the early 80s, featuring Fab 5 Freddy, the Rock Steady Crew, and Grandmaster Flash. At that time, a group of young DJs and breakdancers emulated these role models, experimenting on the streets. In the 90s, Krush's impressive solo career began, making him one of the most advanced DJs and producers worldwide. There were collaborations again and again – for example with the collective Kemuri Productions, which performed with ten turntables and created memorable sound experiences. Krush worked on projects with Galliano or Coldcut, and also with jazz musicians like Toshinori Kondo, Bill Laswell, and Herbie Hancock. His recent works have a minimalist, focused, deep quality, as if they aim to explore the essence of sounds.
