The cycle «The Four Seasons – A Different Take» concludes on the last Sunday in June with a summery highlight centered around Hans Sommer. The internationally acclaimed pianist Claire Huangci opens the concert with a poetic «Serenade» from Fanny Hensel's piano cycle The Year H. 385, which portrays June. For her recording of this work and other music by significant «Piano Heroines», she was recently awarded the Diapason d’Or. The afternoon's focus is a special discovery: the Swiss premiere of a long-lost piano trio by Hans Sommer, a composer recently rediscovered from Richard Strauss’ circle. His biography surprisingly also leads into the world of the Mendelssohn family, specifically to the youngest sister of Felix and Fanny, Rebecka. Appropriately, the concert concludes brilliantly with Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Piano Trio in D minor, one of the great masterpieces of the genre.
