Directed and adapted by Murat Yeginer. They are Nour, Tülay, Mercedes, Dede, and Cemile, and they came to work in Germany. They come from Turkey, Spain, Greece, Yugoslavia, Morocco, and Italy. They miss their families, are homesick, and the working conditions in Germany are not easy, but their families back home rely on them and the money. At some point, Nour, who is 22, and her friends realize that they came as "guests" and that guests are usually treated better, right? Nour, who likes to wear mini skirts, has never been forbidden anything in her hometown Istanbul, and was raised by her father as a fighter, learns about a women's strike in the 1920s. The young women then start fighting for the rights of female workers and demand better accommodation in their dormitories, improved working conditions, German courses, and higher wages! Under the slogan: "One Mark more!" the young women finally want to get out of the so-called "light wage group." The friends organize themselves, and the labor struggle begins... Gün Tank's debut work "The Optimists. Novel of Our Mothers" tells — from a compelling female perspective — the story of the so-called "wild strikes" during the "strike year 1973" between Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Berlin. A story about female solidarity, strong women, and the enormous contribution these women made nationwide in the labor movement. After the great success of "Istanbul" at the Schauspielbühnen Stuttgart, "The Optimists" is another theatrical text by Murat Yeginer that excites, moves, enlightens, and awakens.
