Michael Hampel is a professor of guitar at the Freiburg/Breisgau University of Music. Previously, he worked from 1994 at the Trossingen University of Music in teaching and most recently as university director. After studying in Frankfurt/M, Trossingen, and Salzburg, he began an international concert career. Tours regularly took him to Asia and South America, with many recordings and live broadcasts. From 2017 to 2019, he was a guest professor at Tongji University Shanghai. The focus of his artistic work in recent years, besides his teaching at the Freiburg University of Music, has been the development of new concert formats incorporating digital and scenic concepts. Phileas Baun studied guitar, conducting, and early music in The Hague, Trossingen, and Basel and is at home with his own projects and premieres in contemporary and experimental music as well as on the classical concert stage. He is a prizewinner of numerous competitions and has been teaching since 2021 at the Freiburg University of Music in the subject "Extended Guitar Skills." Previous projects include co-productions with IRCAM Paris, premieres at the Donaueschingen Music Days 2018, and premieres at the Crossroads Festival Salzburg 2019. In 2024, he won the most important Swiss live event award "Xaver" as part of a team for his performance at the opening show of the national hockey final at the stadium in Fribourg/CH, broadcast live on Swiss television SRF.
