The Hieroglyphic Script – Part II

Description

With the fall of the pharaonic empire, the knowledge of the meaning of hieroglyphs was lost. Only in the 19th century could the sacred signs of ancient Egypt be deciphered again. In this course, we deepen the basic knowledge of the meaning of hieroglyphs and learn the basics of Middle Egyptian grammar. Based on what is learned, it will be possible to decipher short inscriptions on monuments and objects.

General Information

The course at the Volkshochschule Zürich offers an in-depth engagement with the hieroglyphic script of ancient Egypt. Participants learn the basics of grammar and can then decipher short inscriptions on monuments and objects.
