It opens up possibilities, sets the tone, sparks curiosity, and points the way to characters, plot, and atmosphere. At the same time, many writers find the beginning particularly challenging. This seminar is dedicated to the creative work with opening sentences as a starting point for literary writing. Using various writing prompts, initial sentences are created that serve as a basis for short stories. Through experimenting, revising, varying, and discarding, different approaches to the beginning are explored. The playful handling of language opens new perspectives and can help overcome creative blocks and develop surprising writing ideas. An inspiring thought is the well-known quote from Pippi Longstocking: "The thing is, we've never done it before, so it will surely be fine." This openness to experimentation forms the basis for working with literary beginnings.
