Description
Explora Live Show by Manuel Bauer Since 1990, Manuel Bauer has accompanied the Dalai Lama in private life and on over 50 journeys around the globe. The Swiss photographer was also allowed to be present when the doors were closed to others. The result is a comprehensive and deeply moving portrait of the Dalai Lama, his escape from Tibet, his secular ethics and compassion, as well as Tibetan Buddhism and the current political challenges in exile. In his lecture, Manuel Bauer tells the story of the Tibet region, the occupation by the People's Republic of China, and the Dalai Lama's flight to India. The photographer accompanies the Nobel Peace Prize laureate to Tibetan refugee camps and remote valleys of the Himalayas. He is there when the Dalai Lama begins meditation early in the morning in his private rooms, when he explains Tibetan Buddhism to Japanese people, when he calls for interreligious dialogue in Peru, when he advocates for more engagement for Tibet in front of the European Parliament, and when he speaks to tens of thousands of people in New York's Central Park. Manuel Bauer vividly presents complex tantric rituals that guide believers on the path to enlightenment. But the true heart of the lecture is the messages of the Dalai Lama, which describe the path to inner peace and peace in the world. The Dalai Lama says about Manuel Bauer: "I admire not only his profession, photography, but I also admire him as a person. He is a very nice man, sincere and modest. I think he has a very pure mindset. This is my personal view, my personal feeling. I have known him for many years, and he himself has shown me great, deeply felt closeness over all these years. He is a true friend to me." Tickets and info at www.explora.ch
