Description

Would you like to walk on the moon? Or maybe watch the storms on Jupiter up close?
With our telescope, we bring distant objects within your reach!
We show you stars as you have never seen them before: orange glowing “red giants,” dazzlingly bright “white dwarfs,” and stars that are actually “binary stars”! Or we let you take a look at the Andromeda Galaxy so you can imagine what our galaxy – the Milky Way – might look like from a distance of about 3 million light years.
Our observatory guides explain the complex processes of star birth and the gentle fading of an old star in clear words. And of course, we answer your burning questions after looking through the telescope’s eyepiece!
Outside temperatures prevail in the observatory, and appropriate clothing is recommended at all times of the year.
Doors open at least 15 minutes before the start of all tours.
The meeting point for the tour is at the entrance of the planetarium.
Please refrain from using mobile phones during the presentation, as the bright display disturbs the eyes’ adjustment to the darkness of all visitors.
The presentation in the observatory is only possible with a clear night sky.

General Information

The event takes place at the SIRIUS Planetarium Observatory in Schwanden (Sigriswil). In clear weather, visitors can observe celestial bodies through telescopes and learn more about astronomy. The tours depend on the weather and require appropriate clothing.
