Present are the performers of the production During his over 70-year professional career, Gendries directed over 150 film productions. In the last five years, he worked as artistic director and director here at the Köpenick City Theatre. We show his last production, world premiere and debut "The Star with the Star" fully staged by Bernd Wefelmeyer.
The production deals with the artistic life and the premature death of the Jewish director and actor Kurt Gerron, deported and gassed by the Nazis in the extermination camp Auschwitz.
The motivation from personal conversations with him was, for the performance of this play at the end of his life, "I have a lot to thank Jews for". With this theme, on 18.11.2023, we aimed to reach our audience with a stance against anti-Semitism and to effectively raise our voice and fulfill our obligation as a theatre.

On the occasion of the 3rd death anniversary of Klaus Gendries, his last production, the world premiere of "The Star with the Star", will be shown at the Köpenick City Theatre. The event takes place as part of the Anti-Semitism Weeks and addresses the artistic life of the Jewish director Kurt Gerron.
