Description
Behind the corporate housing of First Republic entrepreneurs and their employees by architect F. L. Gahura with architectural historian Romana Junkerová. Modernization trends related to the Sigmund-Pumpy factory changed not only the urbanism of the Haná community but also the lifestyle of the newly emerging social class of factory clerks during the first third of the 20th century. Similar to Baťa's Zlín, architect František L. Gahura designed a set of more or less collective typologically similar buildings that served to accommodate single employees as well as entire families. Boarding houses, family duplexes, and modest homes for higher officials were complemented by functionalist villas of the factory owners. All of this was intended to be part of a cohesive urban complex of the American corporate city type with accessible civic amenities.
