Between therapy, creativity, and intoxication The well-known Deep Talk "Behind the Scenes" with Marah Rikli from the theatre. a. part at ComedyHaus Zürich comes to Bern. The first edition in Bern is dedicated to the topic of psychedelics, intoxication, and mental health. Psychedelic substances like LSD, MDMA, or ketamine are currently receiving a lot of attention. New research shows promising results in depression, trauma, anxiety disorders, or addiction. Psychedelic experiences are also increasingly being studied in end-of-life care — for example, in dealing with fear, loss, and mortality. At the same time, consciousness-altering experiences have always played a role in art, music, and creativity. Many people describe intoxication as a way to discover new perspectives, perceive feelings more intensely, or connect with oneself and others. The talk combines personal experiences, research, creative and societal questions and processes around psychedelics, creativity, and mental health. It also addresses the fine line between inspiration, self-care, and overwhelm, and the question of why intoxication is still so closely linked to art and creative work today. Featuring: • Brandy Butler (artist, musician, and community builder) • Big Zis (rapper and musician) • Gregor Hasler (psychiatrist and researcher on psychedelics in therapy) Moderated by Marah Rikli, inclusion activist, moderator, and festival director of the feminist art festival KIN. In her talks, she combines personal stories with societal and political questions.
