Description

This special Christmas concert pauses and touches heart and senses. Under a starry sky at the Lindau Theater, we want to pause in a moment of reflection a few days before Christmas – away from the hustle and bustle, close to the music and in the gentle light of the moon. The moon, a silent companion and witness to human emotion, symbolizing change, cool distance, and heartfelt love vows, a projection surface and unreachability. Schubert pours into tones what Goethe writes: "Füllest wieder Busch und Tal / Still mit Nebelglanz /
Lösest endlich auch einmal / Meine Seele ganz". Composers from Purcell to Chopin to Debussy sought in moonlight that clarity that words can hardly grasp: longing, comfort, and a hint of timelessness. In David Orlowsky's work North, this search for direction sounds – "Music for places you long for without knowing where they are," says the clarinetist.
