Description
Random/Control was the defining project of Vorarlberg pianist David Helbock for many years. Together with Johannes Bär and Andreas Broger, the trio celebrated its 15th anniversary and played hundreds of concerts worldwide. After albums with Traumton and ACT Music, the band will start 2025 with a new program. The new album was recorded during a legendary live session at the Little Big Beat Studio in Liechtenstein.
Signature of the trio: diversity. The three musicians bring more than 20 instruments to the stage. Broger switches between clarinet, saxophone, and flute, and occasionally sings. Bär handles tuba, trombone, trumpet, sousaphone, alphorn, didgeridoo, beatbox, and drums – sometimes simultaneously. Helbock himself has composed many new pieces. He contributes piano and percussion to this project and scores poems by William Blake, Emily Dickinson, and others.
For the vocal interpretation of these lyrical sound worlds, the trio brings Fola Dada on board – German jazz award winner 2022 and one of the most versatile voices between jazz, soul, and pop. The Stuttgart native is an integral part of the German jazz and soul scene. Together with David Helbock's Random/Control, wildness meets virtuosity, poetry meets energy – an adventure with an open outcome. Additional information:
