This course focuses on Amazonia as a cultural area inhabited by humans for thousands of years. Through archaeological finds, we learn more about its impressive pre-Columbian past, its artistic expressions, and its ancient worldview. Topics such as urbanism, plant domestication, rock art, and iconography are covered in class and vividly explored in the Museum Rietberg exhibition.
