We are pleased to welcome you to an exciting event with Prof. Dr. med. Thierry Carrel. Look forward to interesting insights into heart surgery, personal experiences from his long career, as well as information about his humanitarian commitment. Prof. Dr. med. Thierry Carrel is one of the most renowned heart surgeons in Europe. After passing the state exam in 1984, he completed further training as a general surgeon FMH in Basel and Bern, followed by training as a heart and vascular surgeon FMH at the University of Zurich. Until the end of 2020, he headed the Clinic for Heart and Vascular Surgery at Inselspital. Between 2021 and 2022, he was deputy clinic director of the Clinic for Heart Surgery at the University Hospital Zurich and then was a heart surgeon at the University Hospital Basel. With over 850 scientific publications, as co-editor of several international specialist journals and the heart surgery program at the Hirslanden Clinic in Bern and Aarau, he has earned an excellent reputation in the professional world. With his Corelina Foundation, he is also on humanitarian missions, enabling children with heart disease from abroad - and in some cases also from Switzerland - to receive optimal medical treatment and care.
