The Düsseldorf-based musician, author, and storyteller Danko Rabrenović takes us on a musical journey across the Balkans. An evening full of Balkan stories and music: funny, nostalgic, captivating. Yugoslavia is dead. New states, borders, and anthems dominate the image of Southeast Europe. But the 'Jugosphäre' lives on! Mainly through the common language and music. Not only at the Eurovision Song Contest do the former Yugoslav states give each other points. Serbian bands fill halls in Croatia and Bosnia again, and vice versa. No wonder, as the Balkan music scene is based on the shared and very diverse pop scene of the former Yugoslavia of the 70s and 80s. And while politics repeatedly emphasize the differences among Balkan peoples, music focuses on commonalities. From folk songs to schlager to rock superhits: this is about the music of a youth that has shaped generations and is still the most important link between people in the Balkans today.
