Description

Bach's solo violin works are among the absolute pillars of the repertoire: the Partita in E major BWV 1006, the Sonata in G minor BWV 1001, and the Partita in D minor BWV 1004. Composed around 1720, probably in Cöthen, they demonstrate Bach's ability to give an instrument the dimension of an imaginary orchestra. The famous Chaconne from the D minor Partita has long been considered a pinnacle of violin art. Daniel Lozakovich, a young Swedish violinist already highly recognized in Bach, approaches it with mastery of line, restraint of gesture, and clarity of articulation, particularly suited to this music.
