Damir Imamović

Description

Damir Imamović is one of the most prominent representatives of the contemporary Sevdah scene in Bosnia and Herzegovina. To date, he has released eight albums, including several on renowned labels such as Glitterbeat Records ("Dvojka", 2016), Wrasse Records ("Singer of Tales", 2020), and Smithsonian Folkways ("The World And All That It Holds", 2023). Growing up in a family of Sevdah musicians, Imamović was introduced to the traditions of this unique genre at an early age. Since the release of his debut album in 2006, he has regularly toured Southeast Europe and many other countries in Europe. His concert tours have also taken him to the USA, China, India, and Mexico. With his artistic work, Imamović has made a name for himself far beyond the borders of his homeland. The British world music magazine Songlines awarded him the title of "Best European Artist" in 2021, while his album "Singer of Tales" was selected for the best list of the German Record Critics' Award (summer 2020). Additionally, he has appeared on internationally renowned music shows such as Vrije Geluiden (Netherlands) and Live on KEXP (USA).
