Curtis Stigers achieved international breakthrough in 1991 with his self-titled debut album. It sold over 1.5 million copies and produced several successful pop and soul singles, including "You’re All That Matters To Me," "Never Saw A Miracle," and the worldwide Top Ten hit "I Wonder Why." A year later, he contributed a song to the soundtrack of "The Bodyguard" with a cover of Nick Lowe’s "(What’s So Funny ’Bout) Peace Love and Understanding," one of the best-selling soundtracks of all time. In the 1990s, he released more albums and collaborated with many artists, including his mentor, jazz pianist Gene Harris. From 2001, Stigers increasingly focused on jazz, developing his own style that blends jazz with elements of rock, blues, soul, country, and folk. During this phase, he released several albums and the Emmy-nominated theme song "This Life" for the series "Sons of Anarchy." Simultaneously, he established himself as a sought-after live performer and toured worldwide. During the pandemic in 2020, Stigers launched a weekly livestream show called "Songs From My Kitchen" to continue making music and stay connected with his fans. This intimate form of music-making—only voice and acoustic guitar—brought him back to his musical roots and inspired him to rediscover and reinterpret his own songs. His album "Songs From My Kitchen, Volume 1" reflects this period. The now 14th studio album was intentionally stripped down and acoustic, featuring intimate interpretations of songs that Stigers wrote, rediscovered, or covered. He combines his extensive experience as a singer-songwriter with a palpable closeness and directness that continue to define his music today.
