Through four annual conferences, the General Directorate of Buildings and Heritage of the Canton of Vaud, mudac, and the Culture of Built Environment Foundation - CUB give a voice to those who design and create the city through architecture, landscape, infrastructure, or visual arts. For this autumn conference, Corsican architect Amelia Tavella will discuss her approach to the act of building, which always honors what pre-exists. For Amelia Tavella, building perhaps begins with not building. By observing, listening, understanding what is already there: a stone, a ruin, a tree, a memory, a story. Nourished by the Mediterranean, Amelia Tavella develops an architecture of continuity, where each intervention seeks less to impose than to extend. Through her projects, regularly noted, she tells of the desire to repair, transmit, and care.
