Description
From March to October 2026, the Red Nail is back on the road and invites the public to take a renewed look at historic centers, on the theme "old towns and village cores." Its journey ends on October 24 in La Brévine, a village on the high Jura plateaus, located at 1043 meters above sea level. The history of La Brévine begins in the mid-15th century, then still called La Chaux-des-Taillères. Two centuries later, a mineral spring rich in iron carbonate was discovered there, and baths were established, making the place famous. Burned down in 1831, it was rebuilt according to plans by engineer Charles-Henri Junod, who also designed the famous orthogonal plans of the cities of La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle, recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Today, La Brévine has over 600 inhabitants and is particularly known as Switzerland's Siberia, due to its record low winter temperatures. Program 10:00 am Welcome in front of the municipal administration offices, followed by a speech by Denis Clerc, president of Patrimoine suisse, section Neuchâtel, Ms. Muriel Jeanneret, president of the Municipal Council, then a guided tour of the temple. 11:00 am General Assembly of Patrimoine suisse, Neuchâtel section, at the Town Hall. The event is free.
