Clara Vetter Trio

Together with her colleagues Phil Donkin and Fabian Arends, pianist and composer Clara Vetter explores a spectrum of sound from jazz to impressionism and new music. An audience member described her music as "Debussy crashes into Stockhausen." Vetter seeks the connections between the things that inspire her and lets the understanding gained from them fully flow into her music. This also explains the versatility and depth attributed to the Baden-Württemberg jazz award winner of 2023.
The pianist tells in her compositions about her sensitive and multi-layered perception of the world around her. Her audio-visual synesthesia-like impulses subtly manifest in her music. Sounds, textures, and optical impressions from nature particularly inspire Vetter, as they usually appear in the highest complexity, yet in an obvious way and with ease. Organic movement patterns translate into complex rhythmic, sometimes agogic language. Seen colors and shapes become harmonious colors. An individual sound language emerges, focusing on deep musical exploration — with sensory impressions from outer life and inner experiences, supported by artistic craftsmanship, virtuosity, and intuition.
In her new album "What dances here," Vetter spans a musical arc with metaphorical fairy-tale-like images from inner and outer perception to fantasy. It is a tribute to the coexistence of reality, fantasy, and their ongoing development.
