The band blends influences from indie rock, Latin folk, blues, and world music into a sound that makes stories, memories, and entire landscapes audible. Founded by guitarist John Pita and later joined by drummer Zach Para, bassist Matt Fasano, and guitarist Marco Bolfelli, City of the Sun creates music that feels both intimate and cinematic. Since their debut "To The Sun and All the Cities in Between" in 2016, the self-titled album from 2020, and "Segunda Alma" from 2022, the band has built a loyal fanbase worldwide. Their compositions carry echoes of desert winds, city nights, Mediterranean summers, as well as loss and change. This multifaceted sound has taken City of the Sun from London to Paris to Athens, where audiences engage with their instrumental pieces as if each note were a sung lyric. With their current album "Under the Moon," the band navigates various moods: from the surf of "Angeles" to spaghetti western vibes in "Bajo la Luna" to desert rock in "Ciudad del Sol." Latin and African rhythms, disco-funk, and new wave also find their place in this musical world. What City of the Sun creates is more than instrumental music; it is a language of its own.
