Description
For many years, the musician and composer Chris Jarrett, born in the USA, has been living in Germany. In his pieces, he merges jazz, classical, avant-garde, and world music in a breathtaking way. For this, music journalists sometimes call him a "rebel" against the piano establishment. The music of Chris Jarrett is vital and impulsive, full of breaks and surprises, and never easily classified into the usual categories of the music industry. Frank Zappa is as much a role model for him as the masters of the Baroque or modern era. Accordingly, his repertoire is also open, ranging from atonal miniatures to sonatas, film music, ballet, and opera. "Whoever can press the keys with such energy, with pianistic fury, but also with such brilliance and subtlety of touch, almost assimilating the cumbersome instrument ... evokes the association of a mythical centaur – half piano, half human ... imaginative, original, energetic, and technically perfect." Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
