With Kevin Chen, one of the most exciting young pianists of our time makes his debut at the KKL Luzern. The only 21-year-old Canadian has already won prize after prize. He won the Concours de Genève at 17, the Arthur Rubinstein Competition at 18, and most recently earned the silver medal at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw. Together with Daniel Dodds, he presents a program centered around Chopin's stay in Vienna in 1829. At the center is Chopin's brilliant Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor – a work with which Kevin Chen has already achieved great success. A discovery is the pianist and composer Leopoldine Blahetka, whom Chopin met in Vienna and who was closely connected with Beethoven, Schubert, and many other personalities of her time.
