Goods market. A description from the year 1898 described the popularly already named "Chomer Märt" in picturesque dreamy words: "A cheerful, colorful crowd pressed between the stalls, which were erected on the magnificent square in front of the church and the inn Zum Raben as well as the nearest streets of Kirchbühl. There the peasant women stood in front of the stands of the Israelite cloth merchants for the many tested fabrics; there a farmhand was reading out a pair of weekday trousers. Elegant Zuger girls walk arm in arm, flirting and laughing, without paying much attention to the displayed splendors. For them, it is the everyday."
It can be stated with certainty that today a completely different atmosphere prevails than 100, 200 or even 300 years ago. Traditionally, the Chomer Märt always takes place on the last Wednesday before the 1st Sunday of Advent.
