In 2025, Hildegard Knef would have turned 100 years old. She viewed life honestly, ironically, and – despite all tragedy and melancholy – life-affirming and humorous in her double-edged texts. The concert program "Von der Heide sings Knef" revives the timeless songs of the German entertainer. Von der Heide weaves them with his own songs and episodes from Knef's life and work. An humorous and profound concert evening, which will surely also see "red roses" raining down. The entire net profit from tickets, food, and drinks will benefit "Niggi hilft Togo." Behind the aid project are the married couple Nicole and Rolf Wiederkehr from Oberrohrdorf. The surgical assistant Nicole "Niggi" Wiederkehr has been traveling for years during her summer holidays to Togo to operate on people with cataracts together with a medical team – in 2026 alone, they gave more than 100 people sight. Why sight is so important for Togo
Among other reasons, due to malnutrition, many people in Togo – especially children – suffer from cataracts. Untreated, the disease often leads to complete blindness. Losing sight is a drastic restriction for those affected and has massive impacts on their entire social environment. In Togo, families live closely together, and everyone has their area of responsibility to ensure survival. Restoring a person's sight means helping their entire family. With support from "Niggi hilft Togo," a project is emerging in Togo that goes far beyond periodic surgeries: an eye hospital. Here, Togolese specialists will be trained to perform eye surgeries independently in the long term. The Swiss aid team will continue to accompany the project initially and provide help for self-help. The opening of the eye hospital is scheduled for spring 2027. The charity evening with Michael von der Heide offers the opportunity to experience a very special concert and at the same time contribute to ensuring that people in Togo will have sustainable access to ophthalmic care in the future.
