“Those people behind Nové Město, they were the best from the whole republic... They took me in, gave me the food they ate. They invited me under the roof where they slept. Everyone could have gone to their death, but everyone helped. I don't know what made them think that I could be a commander and organize the first partisan group.” A production by the Minor Theatre based on the true story of the Roma hero Josef Serinek. Josef Serinek was a Czech Rom who used the code name Černý during the war. As a soldier, he fought in World War I, and in World War II, he was imprisoned in the concentration camp in Lety, from which he escaped and joined the anti-Nazi resistance. He later became a partisan commander, and his unit operated in the Vysočina region. He was meant to be forgotten, and the events he participated in were to be forgotten as well… Join us in the footsteps of the Černý partisan, let’s experience a true western from Vysočina together! “I grew into the forest. I was the forest. I was the forest and the forest was me...” The main source of inspiration for the production is the three-volume publication Česká cikánská rapsodie (Josef Serinek, Jan Tesař) from Triáda publishing and further personal handwritten notes from Josef Serinek's childhood, which were made accessible to Minor by the Romani Culture Museum in Brno. The patron of the production is Zdeněk Serinek - grandson of Josef Serinek. Accessible to audiences from 9 years old. Duration of the performance is 1 hour and 40 minutes including an intermission. Admission is 750 Kč at the venue, 720 Kč in advance, the time of the performance will be confirmed later.
