Description

This year's nominations for the Václav Burian Award in Olomouc showcase the diverse forms contemporary European poetry can take. Personal experiences intersect with social and political themes, intimate experiences connect with broader questions of the contemporary world. The themes of this year's authors include care, corporeality, memory, identity, freedom, and the search for a person's place in a changing Europe. Public readings by the nominated poets will be accompanied by artistic translations of the poems, followed by discussions led by an expert jury. The evening will also include voting for the Audience Award. The nominees are:
