Description

Since 2015, the St. Gallen band CATALYST has proven that two musicians are enough for energetic alternative rock. Now they are releasing a four-song EP called «EPNAME». Recently, the St. Gallen duo of Dominic Curseri and Ramon Wehrle released their second album «Double Sky» in 2023 and are now returning with the single «CCTV» (23.01.2026, Radicalis Music). «Your Honor, that is not me on the CCTV. No, that’s my evil twin.» - «CCTV» starts aggressively with huge guitars and punchy drums. The evil twin beats more brutally, consumes thoughtlessly, and behaves like a Neanderthal — driven by (nasty) instincts. With the typical mix for Catalyst of hard, bluesy guitar riffs, massive rock drums, and laconic lyrics, the power duo delivers a punch of stoner rock, capitalism critique, and irony all at once. It reminds of Dead Weather and Queens Of The Stone Age, but still sounds fresh and untouched in 2026. Catalyst remain true to themselves here as well, never repeating or drifting into the trivial. One guitar riff after another, the drums get louder with each fill, and between pedicure with steel caps («Steel Cap Slippers»), trickle-down effect («AAA Battery»), and short fuse («Easy To Say»), one can’t help but smile despite dystopian-capitalist images. This makes «EPNAME» an extremely entertaining, fun, and wild listening experience — Catalyst once again show why they are such a refreshing duo of the Swiss alternative scene.
