F|A|R - Figini-Athanas-Renold F|A|R is a new trio featuring guitarist Marco Figini, Stephan Athanas on double bass, and Tony Renold on drums. The trio has developed a new band sound with original compositions and unique cover versions. The experience of all three musicians helps create sophisticated music, allowing space for improvisation without losing lightness. Current album: Sing-Song Marco Figini Guitarist Marco Figini has been active in the music scene both domestically and internationally for years. As a sideman and bandleader, he has played on countless stages in various funk formations, establishing himself as a skilled and versatile guitarist, an excellent groove player, and soloist. As a jazz guitarist, Figini is still relatively unknown, and this is exactly what the new project F|A|R aims to change. Stephan Athanas Bassist Stephan Athanas transitioned from a funky phase (Splash) while studying at the Lucerne School of Music to jazz and film music. He studied at the Berklee School of Music, worked in his own recording studio for various radio stations and film producers, led the FHNW Big Band musically for over 15 years, and is making a name for himself in Switzerland and abroad with jazz and Arabic music (ContempArabic Jazz Ensemble). In F|A|R, he showcases his refined double bass sound and captivates with virtuosic solos. Tony Renold Tony Renold can be counted among the so-called 'musician's musicians.' Although the Aargau jazz drummer is one of the most significant representatives of his field nationwide, it is primarily his fellow musicians who rave about his skill and musicality. Those who have Renold in their band can rely on a technically highly skilled and always punctual rhythm player. Moreover, as a sensitive percussionist, Renold knows how to empathetically capture the fever curve of expressiveness. Sometimes he reduces his accompaniment to a few, secure impulses; at other times, he draws soloists into a relaxed dialogue with clever drumming ideas.
