SPRINTS - 'ALL THAT IS OVER' In "Abandon", the opening track of SPRINTS’ second album "All That Is Over", there is a line that sticks deeply: "I don’t grow old / I grow unrecognisable." This line encapsulates both the emotional core of the album and the rapid development of the band. After their acclaimed debut "Letter To Self" from 2024, Karla Chubb, Sam McCann, Jack Callan, and new guitarist Zac Stephenson return sharper, harder, and more confident than ever. "I believe we emerged from 2024 as completely different people," says Karla. "We have grown so much – personally and as a band. The first album was marked by self-confidence. This one isn’t. I don’t care." After a breakthrough year with relentless touring, sold-out shows, and enthusiastic reviews, SPRINTS had to quickly adapt when original guitarist Colm O’Reilly left the band. When Zac stepped in just weeks before a series of sold-out festival appearances, the band found an unexpected chemistry through what they describe as a "trial by fire" – an energy that shapes "All That Is Over". The album was created on the road – in tour buses, during soundchecks, and amidst personal upheavals – reflecting a world in chaos. Against the backdrop of global crises and personal changes, Karla wrote tirelessly, processing everything from heartbreak to political unrest. The result is an album that harmonizes anger, vulnerability, and defiance. The first single "Descartes" condenses this urgency into a compelling statement about expression and identity, rephrasing "I think, therefore I am" into something more immediate: "I speak, therefore I understand." Elsewhere, "Abandon" deals with uprooting and alienation, while tracks like "Rage" and "Desire" explore new sonic territories, blending psychedelic textures with cinematic intensity. From the shoegaze wave of "Better" to the visceral force of "To The Bone", the album expands SPRINTS' sound without losing their raw immediacy. Once again produced by Daniel Fox, the album captures a band unafraid of experimentation but confidently new in their identity. At its core, "All That Is Over" is about resilience – tuning out external noise and living artistic honesty. "People will always have something to say," reflects Karla. "So you might as well give them something worth talking about."
