Camerata & Kids is the family offer of Camerata Zürich for children from 7 years old. In this newly designed format, children and adults experience together in the concert hall how classical music becomes understandable step by step. The works are introduced age-appropriately, made audible, taken apart and reassembled, and explained with small musical observations and experiments so that even young ears can follow them with curiosity. This concert is dedicated to the human voice and the question of how music can express emotions. What happens when a voice makes longing, joy, fear, or amazement audible? How does a musical expression change when the orchestra accompanies, answers, or contradicts? And why do some melodies touch us immediately, even if we do not know the text? In the first part, Evamaria Felder guides through selected moments from the arias. Children and adults discover together how a singing voice works with sound, breath, lines, and ornaments and how closely voice and orchestra are connected. It also becomes audible that each aria brings its own mood and its own little world. At the center is the soprano Maayan Licht with his unique voice, which many children will experience for the first time in this form. This is what makes this concert special: it expands listening, awakens curiosity, and shows that classical music is not only made up of instruments but also of voice, expression, and immediate presence. Afterwards, the selected arias sound in context. What was previously discovered together is now audible as a whole.
