The Scientific Cafés of the University of Fribourg offer a friendly exchange between the general public, scientists, and experts from diverse backgrounds. It is not a conference held by specialists, but a close dialogue, entirely guided by the questions of the audience. Sorting waste, reducing one's carbon footprint, consuming differently: citizen and political responsibility or moral commitment? Sustainability has become a common horizon. But for many, it represents much more than a set of environmental, social, and economic goals. It conveys values, inspires behaviors, shapes identities, and mobilizes sometimes very strong commitments. It influences our choices, our behaviors, and sometimes even our identity. Can sustainability then be considered a new form of belief system? In this context, what role do religious communities currently play? What does society expect from them? Can they contribute to fostering an ethical reflection on sustainability, mobilize citizens, or propose other ways of inhabiting the world? This Café is offered in partnership with the Office of Sustainability of the Canton of Fribourg as part of the 6th Cantonal Day of Sustainability.
