It Starts with Fire

At the suggestion of Anne Bisang, Magali Mougel wrote "It Starts with Fire," a choral play that throws us into the winter of 1989 somewhere between the Neuchâtel and Jura mountains. It is the time of the fall of the wall, the failure of a crucial summit on climate, a cold winter between fears and utopias. What repercussions for this small town? The author invites us to follow a group of young people with passionate desires. Sparks, graffiti on bus shelters, smells of gasoline: rebellion smolders beneath the ashes. This show paints a fragmented portrait of rebellious youth, in miniskirts and Doc Martens, a youth without horizons but rich in ideals. It was presented at the Swiss Theatre Days 2025 (selection of the best Swiss shows). Born in 1982 in the Vosges and graduated from ENSATT in 2011, Magali Mougel is a playwright. She taught at the University of Strasbourg before dedicating herself exclusively to her writing and has been a finalist twice for the prestigious Grand Prix of Dramatic Writing (Artcena). Swiss Theatre Prize in 2018, Anne Bisang deploys her attachment to rebellious words in contemporary texts at TPR, notably: "The Embers" (L. Bianconi); "Sils-Kaboul" (E. Maillart and A. Schwarzenbach); "She is here" (N. Sarraute); "Small g - A Summer Idyll" (P. Highsmith / M. Bertholet); "We run on rails, so this tunnel must lead somewhere" (F. Dürrenmatt / O. Cornuz); "The Art of Comedy" (E. De Filippo) and "Still Life" (C. Batlle). Born in 1991 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, trained at the Haute Ecole d’Art et de Design de Genève (HEAD), Camille de Pietro makes short films, music videos, documentaries and regularly collaborates with Point Prod for RTS.
