Description

Medieval castles are the symbol of an aristocratic-feudal world. With the change in political circumstances and the decline of the nobility's importance, the language of architecture also changes. Country estates are built, drawing influences from Italy and France. However, the old castles do not disappear. Instead, they are repurposed as bailiff's residences or manor houses and adapted to new living needs. The lecture shows the transformation of architecture, but also the retention of old traditions, as the noble element can be traced into the early modern period.
