BudBrass Celebrates 10 Years – Brass Ensemble Concert

BudBrass celebrates 10 years! Come enjoy an evening full of energy, humor, and great music performed by the České Budějovice brass ensemble. The anniversary concert will feature a diverse program with music by composers such as Gershwin, Parker, Handel, and Bach. Special guests will also take the stage – soprano Alena Máčová and pianist Klára Skalková, all under the baton of conductor Martin Peschík. Klára Skalková is a young Czech pianist from Mariánské Lázně. She studied at the Prague Conservatory and is currently continuing her studies at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna under Professor Avedis Kouyoumdjian. She is a laureate of several national and international competitions. Among her most significant achievements are 1st prize at the international Broumovská klávesa competition, 2nd prize at the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation Competition, and 2nd prize at the international d'Ile-de-France competition in Paris. In 2020, she received the Plzeňský Orfeus award for representing the Plzeň region in the field of classical music. She regularly performs solo, chamber music, and with orchestras, including the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava and the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra. Currently, her studies are financially supported by the Kellner Family Foundation. At the anniversary concert, BudBrass will present Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Alena Máčová is a soprano and a graduate of the Conservatory in České Budějovice. She primarily focuses on concert activities and regularly collaborates with the BudBrass ensemble, performing at events such as Advent concerts. In addition to her musical education, she studied law at Masaryk University. Professionally, she works as a lawyer at the Consumer Protection Association, where she focuses on consumer rights. Currently, alongside music and her legal profession, she also dedicates time to her family. At the anniversary concert, she will sing Handel's arias Lascia ch'io pianga and Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion, both arranged for voice and brass ensemble. More at: www.budbrass.cz
