Description

BUCZECH: The South Bohemian music formation Buczech was born out of a recession. No one among the founding members remembers the exact date and place, but they all agree that beer, pork feasts, and blues were present at the birth. Originally a loose group called Buczech Blues playing blues standards and rock classics for enjoyment in South Bohemian clubs and festivities, the band gradually matured into its current more serious form. It began to rely more on its own creations, which connect to the folk-rock past of author, guitarist, and singer Petr Vošahlík and bassist Vladimír Hettner. The current lineup is complemented by bandleader and keyboardist Jakub Weiss, drummer and multi-instrumentalist Tomáš Krejsa, and violinist Milan Zíka. Although the songwriter identifies with the legacy of blues, rock, and folk classics, the different perspectives of the individual members on music create an interesting sound spiced with more modern influences. The current repertoire of the band is exclusively original, although the boys enjoy occasionally playing songs from artists like Tom Waits or Jimi Hendrix. PREŠPOROK (SK): A legendary folk band from Bratislava founded in 1979. The band's lineup changed around frontman Kliment Ondrejka. Notable members included lyricist Daniel Mikletič, pop singer Robo Grigorov, and writer Márius Kopcsay. Currently, the trio consists of: Kliment Ondrejka on vocals and guitar, František Petriska on vocals, guitar, harmonica, and recorder, and Vladimír Mrázko on percussion and drums. The group resonated significantly in the 1980s and 1990s, appearing on major folk stages, Slovak television, and radio. After a certain hiatus, they returned to the scene in 2009. The folk feeling in their music combines elements of blues, rock, folk music, and pop. They have released their work on multiple media. The biggest “hit” of the band Prešporok is Tancujúca král’ovná. Their latest album Krehké sny was released in collaboration with Zoe Quartet. The albums can be listened to on Spotify, and some songs are visualized on YouTube.
