Broken Music of the English Renaissance

Description

This concert, part of the 'Vocal Parallels' series, focuses on English vocal music from the late 16th and early 17th centuries, including works by Dowland, Byrd, Bull, Coprario, Jones, and others. A distinctive feature is the use of harpsichord accompaniment, a practice rarely performed today and historically more associated with later periods. The performance features tenor Zachary Wilder, lutenist Eduardo Egüez, and harpsichordist Dmytro Kokoshynskyy, who reconstructs authentic accompaniment techniques based on scarce historical evidence. The program also includes 'Khora' by Maxim Shalygin, a new piece for solo harpsichord.
