Description
The composers performed include Swiss/Schwyz artists such as Waespi, Schoeck, Raff, and Martin – in selected works and large ensembles, as one would expect in major concert halls of cities, from Bach, Mozart, Beethoven through Schubert, Grieg, Bruckner, Tchaikovsky, Verdi, Dvořák, and Mahler to Debussy, Ravel, Kodály, Gershwin, Stravinsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, and Shostakovich – not to forget the modern with Langgaard, Poulenc, Swiss Caspar Diethelm, and Peruvian Jimmy Lopez. Recently, the SOKS also sparked conversation with the revival of works by Johann Christian Bach from the music library of the Einsiedeln Monastery. For the fall, the SOKS will again present a "great standard work" by Johannes Brahms, his 3rd Symphony, and before that, a beautiful discovery from romantic Saarland: Théodore Gouvy’s 6th Symphony.
