He and his wife Sandra Hanke are specialists in revealing small, almost invisible animals on the screen and making them visible with emotional aha moments. It is not enough to just walk through the rainforest and look for animals – waiting is required. They learn what it smells like when howler monkeys are nearby or what the cracking sounds like when an orangutan moves through the canopy of the ancient forest giants.
