Body Electric

Description

"The Church says: the body is a sin. Science says: the body is a machine. Advertising says: the body is a business. The body says: I am a celebration." Eduardo Galeano "Body Electric" is a gentle, joyful, and powerful celebration. A (re)discovery of what awakens in us the desire to move, to connect with our corporeality, and to relate to others through dance. A show like an invitation to make the body a place of renewal, to draw from movement a new energy, an intimate strength thus opening the way to the encounter of multiple rhythms, to stories of multiple bodies. A proposal to try to return to the "experience of the flesh" and to reconnect with our sensations. Kiyan Khoshoie is a Swiss-Iranian dancer and choreographer, trained at the Rotterdam Dance Academy. He works in various companies in the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany before returning to Switzerland to create his own pieces. Created in 2018, his solo "Grand Écart" was presented at the Swiss Dance Days 2021 and at the Swiss Selection in Avignon (SCH) in 2022. The same year, he created with Charlotte Dumartheray "Kick Ball Change" which became a film through the "From Stage to Screen" program, screened at the 59th Solothurn Film Festival. In 2024, he created "Wannabe" at the Pavillon de la danse in Geneva and then "Time of my life" for the Tanzkompanie St. Gallen (2025).

General Information

"Body Electric" is a dance celebration inviting to rediscover our corporeality and connect with others. Presented at TPR — Neuchâtel Center for Performing Arts in La Chaux-de-Fonds, this show highlights the work of Swiss-Iranian choreographer Kiyan Khoshoie.
